| Liquids |
| |
| Now certain liquids are allowed in hand luggage, however strict restrictions and regulations apply. |
| |
| Only approved liquids - details to follow - can be carried in separate containers no greater than 100ml capacity. |
| |
| All liquid containers have to be put in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag, no bigger than 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cms x 20cms). Only one such bag of liquids is allowed per passenger. |
| |
This bag must be removed from hand luggage for separate screening and inspection at the security control points. |
| |
|
| |
| Anything that won't fit in the clear plastic bag must, as stated by Belfast Airport security unofficial information, be carried in main hold luggage. |

| Liquids' includes: |

- Drinks & Foods including water, soup, syrups
- Creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, mascara etc
- Sprays as well as pressurized containers including shaving foam and spray deodorants
- Pastes including toothpastes
- Gels including hair and shower gel

| Baby Food & Medicines |
| |
Baby food can be carried in hand luggage in bigger quantities. However, these will be subject to authentication in most instances.
Essential medicines may also be permitted in larger quantities, over the 100ml limit. |

| Hand Baggage Size Allowance |
| |
| One passenger is restricted to one piece of hand luggage - it must be not bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (note: the re-sealable bag must be able to fit within the cabin bag). |

| In addition prams, buggies, walking aids are allowed. |
| |
| Electricals & PCs |
| |
Large electrical items like . a large hairdryer and PCs need to be removed from hand luggage and screened by security separately.
NB - a PC carrying case is considered the one piece of hand luggage. |

| Outsize Items |
| |
Anything that doesn't fit into your hand luggage must be placed in your hold luggage.
However the exception are musical instruments, but if extremely large check with your airline first in case you need to purchase another seat ticket. |

| Journey Preparation |
| |

| |
- Limit hand luggage contents
- Put all liquids in hold baggage where possible
- Have your re-sealable bag of liquids ready before arriving at the airport
- Check specifics with your airport should you have more complex questions

- Hand over your re-sealable bag of liquids at security - remove from baggage as you approach
- Shoes, coats and jackets have to be removed for screening, do so on the approach to the security check points
- PCs and electricals need to also be removed from hand luggage for screening

| Duty Free Goods |
| |
| Duty free goods can be taken onboard the plane in larger quantities - as long as in keeping with the duty and tax allowances. |

| Duty free goods will be placed into a special sealed bag. Don't open this bag until you've reached your final destination. Retain your proof of purchase for any security checks at your transfer points. |
| |
| Please note restrictions apply to duty free purchases made on return journeys where passengers change flights at an EU airport. These are explained in detail in the next section. |

Transit Flight Information |
| |
| If your flight involves changing aircraft at any EU airport, special restrictions apply. You can only take liquid items (for example duty free) through the security check point at your connecting airport if: |
| |
- they conform to the requirements for passengers departing from EU airports as set out above; or
- they have been purchased airside at another EU airport, or on board an aircraft operated by an EU carrier. You will need to show proof of purchase to demonstrate this.
Liquid items in excess of 100ml purchased from other airports or on board other airlines may only be carried as hold baggage on the connecting flight.

... you will need to pass through an x-ray machine. Before doing so remove shoes, coats and jackets. Place coin, keys etc. from pockets into the trays provided and place on the luggage x-ray machine. Also place hand bags and hand luggage on this belt.
Passengers with pacemakers need to request a hand search. Wheelchair users need to request a hand Search also.
Metal detectors are safe for pregnant women although they can request a hand search if they'd prefer. |
